The Simrad RF45X rudder feedback unit is designed for medium duty applications and provides a variable frequency or current output. Mechanically, it is identical to its predecessor, the RF45, making it a repairable rather than a disposable item.
The electrical system generates a frequency signal (pulse width modulated) that is compatible with the J3XX input of Simrad AP35 and AP50 autopilots. The device can operate on 24 V DC, a useful feature when connected to a standalone rudder angle indicator system. The unit must be mounted close to the rudder stock and mechanically connected via the RF45 transmission link.
Additionally, it can be configured via internal jumpers to output a frequency signal that matches the AP45 and AP9 Mk3 models.
