Designed for the hardest conditions, the Ea and Ej Tiller Extensions reduce strain and increase the sheer enjoyment of helming. The asymmetric version improves performance through better feedback, mobility, and reduced fatigue. The compact straight version is ideal for competitive helming, smaller cockpits, and hiking. Both models feature telescopic extensions and robust construction for precise control.
Asymmetric Grip: The asymmetric grip improves helming performance by fitting the hand and supporting the wrist, on or off the wind. It provides more feedback for accurate and precise control, and more mobility to maintain the best helming position for optimum trim and visibility. The design reduces fatigue by encouraging a correct helming position that alleviates back pain and improves concentration. It allows two-handed helming with arms relaxed into a more comfortable, elbows-down position.
Adjustment Mechanism: Features a push-button adjustment with a Torlon ball locking mechanism for secure length setting. A strong stainless steel swivel joint ensures precise control during operation. An integral shock absorber dampens sudden movements, while a removable fast pin facilitates easy stowage when not in use.
Upgrade Options: For enhanced grip, select model EA/900SG or add the E-Grip accessory to upgrade the standard handle. The grip can be interchanged between asymmetric and straight specifications using EA-HDL or EJ-HDL kits, requiring only the removal of two socket screws.
Compact Straight Version: The Ej Tiller Extension offers a compact solution for competitive helming with a straight-handled racket grip. It features telescopic extensions in four standard lengths, providing all the benefits of the asymmetric model but with a slimmer profile. This design is ideal for smaller cockpits, hiking, and fast tacking maneuvers.
Diabolo Version: Preferred by single-handed yachtsmen, the diabolo version uses a windsurfing-style universal joint that returns the extension to a vertical position when not in use. This configuration is widely used in Mini Transat, Open 60s, and other boats predominantly tiller-steered by autopilot.
Length Specifications: The 900 series extends from 600 to 900mm. The 1200 series extends from 750 to 1200mm. The 1600 series extends from 950 to 1600mm. The 2000 series extends from 1350 to 2000mm.
Diabolo Compatibility: Tiller extensions from the 900 series range are supplied with the slimmer E-Diabolo joint. Tiller extensions from the 1200 and 1600 series ranges are supplied with the larger 'jumbo' E-Diabolo/J joint. Spare E-Diabolo and E-Diabolo/J joints are available separately.
