These new outboards feature an advanced Mercury electronic fuel injection (EFI) system designed to provide boating enthusiasts, anglers, and professional fishermen with easy starting and efficient performance.
Lightweight and efficient
Thanks to EFI technology and other improvements, these engines offer up to 27% better fuel economy than previous carbureted models in the same power range.
They are light enough to be portable, making them ideal for spontaneous water adventures in trailerable fishing boats and other small vessels, including inflatable boats.
Gram for gram, these outboards produce more peak power than previous-generation carbureted engines, while achieving significant weight savings compared to most EFI outboards in their class.
Easy maintenance
EFI technology also makes these engines easy to maintain, with no oil filter changes required. In addition, their camshaft requires no periodic maintenance or valve clearance adjustments throughout the life of the engine. The new engines also come equipped with a quick-connect freshwater flushing port that attaches to a standard garden hose.
EFI technology ensures easy starting in any weather conditions.
While the 8 and 9.9 HP EFI models are available with manual or electric start options, the manual-start versions do not require a starter battery, enhancing convenience.
The 8 HP EFI comes with an easy-to-use tiller handle: gear shift, throttle, steering, trim, and stop button can all be operated with one hand.
Mercury’s engineering team has balanced the powerhead of the new 8 and 9.9 HP EFI outboards and incorporated vibration- and noise-damping materials, including soft rubber mounts, to deliver a smooth and quiet boating experience.
