Multispectral camera for marine use with LWIR thermography with 5× optical zoom, 4K ultra-low-light visible camera, AI tracking, 3-axis stabilization and long-range laser focus; ITAR-free laser rangefinder option.
The FLIR M460 is a next-generation multispectral vision system that combines long-wave infrared (LWIR) thermography, 4K visible video and artificial intelligence processing to deliver long-range detection, situational awareness and rapid response in all conditions. Its three-axis gyro-stabilized head keeps the image steady in rough seas and during abrupt maneuvers, while AI tracking identifies and follows relevant targets (vessels, buoys, people) to reduce workload on the bridge.
Optics and sensors
- High-sensitivity LWIR thermal with 5× optical zoom lens for early long-range detection and detail reading in adverse conditions (total darkness, smoke, spray).
- 4K ultra-low-light visible camera to complement the thermal scene with color and detail at dusk or under navigation lights.
Integrated lasers
- Narrow-beam laser pointer for pinpoint illumination of distant objects (?1 km), useful in search and rescue or nighttime maneuvers.
- ITAR-free laser rangefinder option, with effective range up to ~12 km (?6.5 nm) for precise distance measurements in low visibility.*
Stabilization and operator assistance
- Triaxial stabilization for a stable image in pitch, roll and yaw.
- AI tracking and object lock to keep moving targets in frame.
- Image enhancements: spatial filtering, contrast and sharpness enhancement on the thermal signal.
Integration and control
- Simple integration with leading displays/chartplotters for control and visualization.
- Local or remote control from the bridge; thermal and visible video outputs for recording and distribution to monitors.
- Ready for 24/7 operations on recreational, professional and response vessels (SAR, patrol).
Design for the marine environment
- Sealed, weather-resistant assembly; built for continuous service.
- Architecture designed for low maintenance and high mission availability.
Key applications
- Search and rescue (SAR) and collision avoidance at night or in fog.
- Anchor watch and harbour manoeuvring with laser spotlight support.
- Coastal navigation with identification of marks and obstacles.
- Security and inspection operations on superyachts and workboat fleets.
